“The mission of the new Science Center is to provide all visitors, especially youth, with hands-on opportunities to discover science and technology, explore various careers and professions, and imagine the future. It will be comprised of a combination of two historic buildings on the site, the Gas Machine Building and the Power Plant, which will be preserved and renovated. A series of smaller existing buildings surrounding them will be replaced with new structures to fit the program and requirements of the new facility. A new entry, orientation, reception, and connector structure will be created to link all the buildings together and provide a cohesive and integrated complex.”
The project is developed by Lee H. Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership. The provided services are Interpretive Master Planning, Architectural Concept Design and Exhibition Planning.
